Everton want to sign Harry Maguire with Manchester United open to swap deal involving Amadou Onana
Everton are considering a transfer move for Harry Maguire, with Manchester United open to a swap deal involving Amadou Onana according to The Mirror.
Writing on their official Twitter account (8 August), the newspaper wrote that the Red Devils are interested in the Belgium midfielder going the other way in a deal that would see Maguire move to Goodison Park.
Onana has found himself on the brink of the team under Sean Dyche while Maguire has been cast aside by Erik Ten Hag, even stripped of the captaincy this summer, and a move for both can’t be ruled out at this stage.
“Everton are considering a move for Manchester United defender Harry Maguire – with the Red Devils interested in midfielder Amadou Onana going the other way,” they wrote.
Interesting
Most Everton fans would tell you to get away if you offered them this deal on paper, but when you look deeper into it it’s not that crazy.
Onana is of course only 21 and showed great potential last season, especially under Frank Lampard, but Dyche seemingly prefers different options.

Idrissa Gana Gueye, James Garner and Abdoulaye Doucoure seem to be the preferred central midfield options for the boss, while the club also have Andre Gomes and Dele Alli available as it stands.
That means they’re well covered to allow Onana to leave and they could probably get some cash in return, while also strengthening their central defensive position and making them stronger in a key area.
It’s a risky move because of his age and potential, but it wouldn’t be the biggest surprise to see Dyche green light this move if it came down to it to get a team more in his image.
