The chances of Everton signing strikers Beto and Che Adams are currently "highly unlikely", according to Graeme Bailey.

The 90min journalist reported via Twitter (24 August) that Everton are in talks with Udinese for Beto but the Serie A side have placed a price tag on their 25-year-old striker that is "in excess of £30million", making a deal hard to complete.

In addition, Bailey said a move for Southampton frontman Che Adams also looks increasingly doubtful at this stage.

Adams has played in all three of the Saints' Championship fixtures so far this season, with the 27-year-old scoring once in each match thus far.

Double blow

This would not have been the news that Sean Dyche wanted to receive this close to the transfer window closing. The Toffees are in desperate need of firepower going forward. That fact has been obvious all summer, and no goals in their opening two Premier League games during the current campaign has only made it more apparent.

Therefore, finding out that deals for both of the club's primary striking targets are unlikely will leave the boss feeling very frustrated. It is an area that needs addressing urgently and hasn't been dealt with efficiently enough this summer.

Everton

Both Adams and Beto would be brilliant additions to the squad. Adams has plenty of Premier League experience, while Beto has suggested that he can score consistently at an elite level, having found the back of the net 21 times in 62 Serie A appearances.

If the Merseyside-based club want to avoid a third consecutive relegation dogfight, it is time for them to pay up.
