Everton have agreed a last-gasp deal worth £38.5m to sign Wilfried Gnonto from Leeds United, according to Sports Mediaset.

Writing on their official website (1 September), the Italian news outlet report that a deal is "all done" between the two clubs with the 19-year-old moving to Goodison Park.

The Toffees re-opened talks on deadline day to get a deal done, and it now seems they have got their man after his agents worked to close the deal in London.

"Wilfried Gnonto will say goodbye to Leeds, who finished in the English Championship, on the last day of the transfer window," they wrote.

"All done with Everton for around 45 million euros (£38.5m)."

Crazy

It's been a rollercoaster of a transfer saga this, but for once it looks like Everton have come out on top.

Gnonto has been a prime target all summer long, and now after months of negotiations it looks like we've pulled the trigger on getting a deal done.

Everton

Leeds were adamant they wouldn't sell the Italy international but after selling Alex Iwobi to Fulham for £20m it seems that we've been able to stump up the cash to convince them otherwise.

Obviously, they only signed him for £5m last year on deadline day so this represents a huge profit for them, and it's a big gamble from us to spend so much on such a young player.

But his quality is clear for all to see and Dyche is obviously convinced enough that he could be a difference maker in this team to keep us away from a relegation battle.

It's a fantastic signing, and fans have reasons to be very excited now heading into the season.
