Robbie Savage makes scoreline prediction for Everton v Arsenal, shares ‘positive signs’ verdict
Robbie Savage has predicted Everton to suffer a defeat against Arsenal when the sides meet on Sunday (17 September).
Speaking to football365 on Thursday (14 September), the pundit said there are “positive signs” for the Toffees on the back of the 2-1 Carabao Cup victory over Doncaster Rovers, with Beto and Arnaut Danjuma looking “very lively”.
But he said this is a “completely different test” against the Gunners, who are going to be “too good” for the Blues in what he believes will be a 2-0 win for the visitors at Goodison Park.

“There are positive signs for Everton,” said Savage. “In the Carabao Cup they went to Doncaster and won. Beto and Danjuma looked very very lively, but this is a completely different test against an Arsenal side playing with confidence on the back of the 3-1 win against Manchester United.
“Sean Dyche is going to need that Goodison Park crowd to get right behind the team like they did when he took over and they beat Arsenal last February. They are going to need all that energy, all that emotion in this game as well. But they can’t hit the target at home.
“They’ve created numerous chances at Goodison, and they’ve been unlucky in a few decisions. But for me Arsenal are going to be too good for Sean Dyche’s men. No more goals for Everton at Goodison in this game. I’m going for a clean sheet for Arsenal and a 2-0 win.”
Bonus
While no game is ever a free hit in the Premier League, this is not a fixture where many people will be expecting Everton to get anything out of it.
It would be a huge bonus if they can manage to pick up three points, but even a draw would likely be viewed as a massive positive for the Blues.
They have largely struggled so far this season, with their only point coming last time out at Sheffield United before the international break.

The past couple of weeks have probably provided Sean Dyche with an opportunity to work on a few things and he’ll be hoping they come off at the weekend.
There is no doubt it will be a tough game, but it’s an opportunity for the players to go out there and prove they have it in them to record a more successful season than the club has experienced over the past couple of years.
