Journalist claims 777 only want Everton to add value to their investments
Paul Brown has claimed suggestions have been made that 777 Partners are more interested in adding value to their portfolio than they are in owning Everton.
The former Daily Star journalist suggests the move to take over Everton would help attract new investment into their wider businesses and the rest of their portfolio, and that this would be their main reason for the interest.
He claims he is yet to speak to anybody in football who believes that the group have the capability of running a Premier League football club, or the funding to achieve any success at Goodison Park.

Brown spoke to GIVEMESPORT [9 October], where he gave the latest worrying assessment of 777 Partners and their proposed takeover: “They’re right in that there is no magic wand to fix Everton.
“I think it’s going to be a long, slow process just to get the finances back on track, whoever takes the club on.
“Unfortunately, I’m yet to speak to anyone in football who believes that this group has the capability or the funding to achieve any kind of stability or success with Everton.
“In fact, I’ve even spoken to people who suggest that this may be less about owning a successful Premier League team and more about adding value to the portfolio and helping to attract new investment into the wider business.”
Another worrying story
It seems as if every report surrounding the proposed takeover at Everton is negative. Every day a new worrying story or claim emerges, in what is probably a damning indictment of what the long-term future of this takeover would look like.

One concern for fans would be the protests against 777 Partners’ ownership at both Hertha Berlin and Standard Liege, with suggestions at these clubs that the group have had a negative effect both on the running and competitiveness of these clubs.
It emerged yesterday that the Everton Fan Advisory Board had sent a 14-question letter to 777, requesting answers to some key questions surrounding the takeover.
A reply is yet to be received, but it will be an interesting development if 777 decides to clear up some important questions from the fans ahead of their prospective takeover of the club.
