There remains no "certainty" that 777 Partners will be approved to become the new owners of Everton, according to The esk.

The Toffees-focused writer reacted, via Twitter on 4 November, to the news from The Times that Josh Wander and Steve Pasko had been cleared by the FA to become directors of the club, claiming the pair were never expected to fall at that hurdle.

However he called it an "entirely different proposition" to green light on the more important question of whether they are suitable owners.

The esk wrote: "It was never anticipated they would fail the director's hurdle. The owners test is an entirely different proposition".

To the suggestion 777 will also pass that he responded: "You can't say that with any certainty".

Wait goes on

It is progress of some sort for Wander and Pasko to have been given approval on the lesser question of whether they could join the Toffees board.

Were they not cleared for that then there would been big problems for Farhad Moshiri's sale agreement, but ultimately the key issue is still unanswered yet.

The current Everton majority shareholder and Wander looked pretty positive as both attended the 3-0 victory over Burnley in midweek, and all the noises coming from the Americans have indicated they expect to be waved through.

Everton

But this club have been expected to do things before in terms of investment and ownership only for events to suddenly take a dramatic turn, such as when the proposed 20% involvement of MSP Sports Capital fell through earlier this year.

So until anything is officially announced there will be plenty of fans and journalists who remain unconvinced of any course of action.

Right now though, with Sean Dyche's side picking up positive results on the pitch, there will be a greater contentment to let developments off it take care of themselves.

Despite conceding an unlucky late, deflected equaliser at home to Brighton on Saturday it was another game unbeaten and another point on the board against a decent side, and things are currently looking a lot brighter than the early weeks of the campaign.
