Alan Shearer gushes over ‘constant threat’ Dwight McNeil in Everton 2-0 win v Chelsea
Alan Shearer has included Everton ace Dwight McNeil in his Premier League Team of the Week after his display against Chelsea.
The honour comes after the winger helped the Toffees defeat the Blues 2-0 at Goodison Park on Sunday (10 December).
Abdoulaye Doucoure and Lewis Dobbin netted second-half goals to secure the Premier League victory for the home side.

“Although he didn’t score himself, he was a constant threat in dangerous pockets,” Shearer told the official Premier League website (11 December). “Sean Dyche is again getting the best out of him.”
Stunning form
Both McNeil and Everton are in superb form, with the Toffees simply not letting their recent 10-point deduction get to them.

Dyche’s side did lose their first match immediately after the sanction, falling to a miserable 3-0 home loss to Manchester United.
But since then, they have come together to produce some superb results, with Everton now one of the most in-form teams in the Premier League with three wins in a row.
The run began with a 1-0 win away to Nottingham Forest, with the Toffees then putting their Goodison Park hoodoo behind them with 3-0 and 2-0 home wins against Newcastle United and Chelsea respectively.
Having been shot down from 14th place to 19th place in the table following their punishment, the Merseyside outfit now occupy 17th place, and don’t look like slowing down anytime soon.
A tough trip to Burnley is up next for Dyche and his men, with the manager in for an emotional return to Turf Moor on Saturday (16 December).
In other Everton news, Dyche has taken one Toffees ace to the next level as a top-four Premier League statistic emerges.
