Everton: Sean Dyche told to be ‘savvier’ v Manchester City after what happened at Goodison Park
Everton manager Sean Dyche must be “savvier” during the clash against Manchester City, according to journalist Alex Keble.
The Toffees travel to the Etihad on Saturday (10 February) to take on City, having lost 3-1 at Goodison Park at the end of December.
Keble noted that the Merseyside club can, however, still pose a danger to Pep Guardiola and his players, particularly on the counter.
“Looking at their fixtures up until the international break, Everton, Chelsea and AFC Bournemouth are all capable of counter-attacking sharply against Man City’s high line,” Keble wrote for the official Premier League website (7 February).
“Man City drew 4-4 at Stamford Bridge in November and another end-to-end match is plausible, but Everton were beaten 3-1 and Bournemouth 6-1 in the reverse fixtures. Sean Dyche and Andoni Iraola will need to be savvier this month.
“There is certainly some danger there, but more importantly Man City travel to Anfield on 10 March before hosting Arsenal after the international break.”
Huge game for Everton
It is a massive match for both Everton and Manchester City, with the two clubs having very different Premier League campaigns so far.
The former are struggling big time, with the Toffees currently sitting 18th in the table, with just eight wins from their 23 matches.
The latter meanwhile are sitting in second place, having won 15 of their 22 matches so far, with league leaders Liverpool just two points ahead of them.
The Toffees certainly put up a fight in the reverse fixture at Goodison Park during the festive period, with the home side even going 1-0 up through Jack Harrison.
But the visitors showed all their class to turn things around, with Phil Foden, Julian Alvarez and Bernardo Silva all on target.

City go into the upcoming clash full of confidence after beating Brentford 3-1 on Monday (5 February), although the Toffees should also be on a high after drawing 2-2 with Tottenham two days earlier.
