Everton are considering the signing of teenage sensation Omari Benjamin after he scored the winning goal while on trial on Saturday (2 March).

Writing on their website (4 March), the Liverpool Echo report that the current Arsenal forward is currently on trial at Goodison Park and scored the winning goal for the Under-21's team at the weekend against Tottenham Hotspur.

And after impressing in the game the Toffees are now looking at signing the 18-year-old permanently as coaches at Finch Farm run the rule over his qualities.

Everton looking to the future

There has been a great boost in the youth ranks at Everton recently with the likes of James Garner and Youssef Chermiti joining the club at the early stages of their career.

But Sean Dyche has provided a platform for players to break through from the academy too with Jarrad Branthwaite becoming a regular in the starting lineup and Lewis Dobbin a regular in the match-day squad too.

Benjamin could see that as an idea route to getting regular first-team football, with the Arsenal pathway clogged up by full internationals on huge money and top young talents ahead of him in the pecking order too.

If he can fit into the style of play that the academy are playing regularly then he could also have an impact for the first-team, so the club would be silly not to look at him.

His situation at Arsenal isn't entirely clear so it may not be the easiest deal to do, but there could be a new attacking ace rocking up on Merseyside soon.
