Everton: Jason Cundy can’t believe what’s happened at Goodison Park as relegation prediction made
Jason Cundy says he cannot understand why Everton are once again struggling at the wrong end of the Premier League this season.
The Toffees were docked six points earlier in the campaign, but there is a general acceptance that performances have not been good enough.
Speaking after the creditable 1-1 draw with Newcastle United, Cundy’s co-host Jamie O’Hara tipped Everton to avoid relegation.
Cundy said on talkSPORT [2 April, 10:57pm]: “I still can’t work out how Everton are in this situation every year.
“This team should not be where they are. I cannot get my head around it.”
O’Hara added: “I think Everton will stay in the league because there are worse teams. But you’ve got to sort yourselves out for next season.”
Everton in another Premier League relegation battle
You cannot discuss Everton’s league position without mentioning the points deduction harshly handed to them earlier in the season.
Without it, they would be in 14th place which, while not amazing on the face of it, would have meant very little talk of relegation.
At the same time, this club-record winless streak of 13 Premier League matches is simply not good enough.

The point at Newcastle was a good one, but six points from a possible 39 is a terrible return and means relegation remains a real possibility.
As Cundy says, this is now seemingly an annual occurrence for Everton. If survival is achieved this term, expect more of the same next season.
Unless something is done to stop the rot – and a change of ownership may or may not help – then it is difficult to see things turning around.
