Sean Dyche sack mooted at Everton as Premier League relegation battle hots up
Former Everton defender Alan Stubbs has mooted the possibility of his old club sacking manager Sean Dyche, saying “something’s got to change”.
During the 1-1 draw with Newcastle United on 2 April, Stubbs posted an image on social media criticising Everton’s openness without the ball.
He was then asked whether Dyche was still the right man to lead the Toffees this season and Stubbs was insistent that change of some kind was necessary
Stubbs said on his personal X account: “Not sure if it’s too late now but something’s got to change on the pitch for sure (and off it also) as we seem well off it and devoid of ideas, direction and belief!”

On paper, a 1-1 draw with a Newcastle side competing for a European qualification spot at St James’ Park is a good result – but Everton’s performance was undeniably poor and they were lucky to come away with anything.
The draw also set a new, unwanted club record of 13 consecutive games without a win in the Premier League, a run which includes seven defeats.
Everton sit just four points and two places above the relegation zone – though they do boast a game in hand on the three teams below them.
In order to make that advantage count, however, their form must improve – and soon.
Upcoming clashes with fellow strugglers Burnley, Nottingham Forest, Brentford, Luton Town and Sheffield United in their final eight games could well define their season – and performances like the one offered up on Tyneside are unlikely to claim the desired results.
If Dyche does remain in the dugout, he must ensure Everton look a changed side ahead of a season-defining run-in.
