Everton: Another nail in the coffin as Premier League argument emerges at Goodison Park
Dan Plumley has insisted the summer spending of 2022/23 was another nail in the coffin of Everton in their case with the Premier League.
It was shared recently that the Premier League expressed concern over the spending and will have likely argued that in the second charge hearing recently, which led to a two-point deduction.
The football finance expert admitted that everything is adding up to paint the picture of some really poor financial decisions in recent years.
“To go back to looking at that rounded view of this set of accounts and the bigger picture of the financial situation of the club and the problems they have had with the Premier League’s PSR calculation, it is another nail in the coffin,” he exclusively told Goodison News.
“The numbers haven’t been great and there have been some decisions that have been taken that perhaps shouldn’t have been taken.
“I know you can look at the on-pitch situation which is vital to that, and again, we can’t get away from that but if you’re in that financial hole and the spend is £91million, people are going ask questions about that.
“The Premier League is going to be the one asking those questions and again, it’s one factor that we’re looking at, one number in a bigger set of numbers, but it all inter-relates and paints that picture of some really poor financial management decisions over the past few years.”

Everton and the Premier League in argument yet again
The past handful of years have been nothing short of a nightmare for Everton and Farhad Moshiri, who are consistently in trouble despite working closely with the Premier League.
This latest argument was no surprise and there are even suggestions that a third punishment could be on the way to Goodison Park next year.
When will this torture stop? Everton needs to find answers very soon.
