Jamie Carragher shares 'fantastic' Everton verdict ahead of clash v Brentford at Goodison Park

Jamie Carragher has insisted that the "fantastic" atmosphere created by Everton fans against Liverpool could play a part as they host Brentford at Goodison Park.

Sean Dyche's side have hit a strong vein of form after 2-0 wins against both Nottingham Forest and Liverpool, and Carragher thinks that will have given them confidence.

After two impressive performances, a win against Brentford could officially secure survival for the Toffees, putting an end to what was a nervy relegation scrap.

Speaking live on Sky Sports News [27 April, 16:04], Carragher shared: "You'd expect a very confident Everton. Getting a result here today would take any questions about getting involved in a relegation scrap out of the way.

"They've had a great couple of games here and they'll want to finish it off against Brentford. The energy from the crowd, they use that and they'll be wanting to do exactly the same again.

"The atmosphere was fantastic against Liverpool, it won't be the same as that but it'll be a tough game."

With Brentford sitting two points above the Toffees in the table, a win would not only secure Everton's Premier League survival for the season but would also see them leapfrog some of their relegation rivals in the process.

It has been a hard-fought battle at the bottom, but back-to-back wins came at the perfect time for Dyche as pressure had begun to build on his position as manager after a long winless run which began at the end of 2023.

Carragher's praise for the supporters at Goodison Park should be received as it was intended - a nod to the supporters who have played their part in once again keeping Everton in the league - particularly in the clash with Liverpool.

There will be an air of confidence about Dyche's team, just as there will be belief in the stands, and while it will likely be a tough game as Carragher expects, it is far from the nerve-wracking clash it could have been just two weeks ago.
