Everton takeover update as 777 Partners alternatives could be in place next week
Everton could be the subject of takeover bids from alternate parties in the next week as new problems emerge at 777 Partners, according to i News.
The outlet reported on its website on Sunday (5 May) that alternative bidders could make their interest known at Goodison Park in the next seven days after the Miami-based firm were hit by brand-new litigation.
777 Partners and co-founder Josh Wander have been accused of operating a fraudulent scheme by London’s Leadenhall Capital Partners and Leadenhall Life Insurance Linked Investments Fund.
The allegation is that 777 and Wander pledged more than £279million in assets as collateral in a credit facility agreement, but those assets either did not exist or were not owned by Wander’s company.
Among the potential bidders, it is understood that Middle Eastern sovereign state funds that have previously been contacted by Deloitte may be interested and that includes the Qatar Inventory Authority.
Will 777 Partners complete their takeover of Everton at Goodison Park?
It seems that even those behind the scenes at Goodison Park have come to the realisation that somebody other than 777 Partners may be the right candidate to replace Farhad Moshiri as the Toffees’ owner.
Whether or not that will mean that an alternative buyer will emerge from the Gulf Nations remains to be seen, but sources close to the club have always insisted other parties would be interested in taking over at Goodison.

Moshiri so far has remained outwardly committed to seeing this takeover over the line and while that still hasn’t changed, there may be a seed of doubt in his mind over whether this firm is actually equipped to run the club sustainability.
Hopefully, somebody will come forward sooner rather than later to ensure that this deal goes through without the circus surrounding 777, but you wouldn’t hold your breath. Nothing is ever easy when it comes to Everton.
