Sean Dyche hailed as ‘expert’ after what he has done at Everton
Everton manager Sean Dyche was called an “expert” by Carlton Cole after rubber-stamping their Premier League safety with a 1-1 draw at Luton Town.
The former Premier League striker said that Everton have had “everything” thrown at them this season, and being safe despite an eight-point deduction underlines Dyche’s credentials.
Everton’s 1-1 draw at Kenilworth Road came off the back of three straight victories and four wins from five attempts, winning 13 points from the last 18 available to move well clear of the bottom three.
Speaking about the match on talkSPORT, Cole said: “He’s had to galvanise the players and make them believe that we can do this and stay up. We just have to concentrate on ourselves.”
Singling out Dyche, he added: “Certain managers are good for certain achievements. We know that Sean Dyche is an expert at staying in the league and now he’s proven it again.
“With everything thrown at him, he’s still stayed in the league. He’s got to be up there with the best of this type of manager in the world.”
Everton escape relegation trouble despite season from hell
Everton’s story of survival this season has come against a background of absolute chaos off the pitch. The club have been met with two deductions worth a total of eight points, yet still find themselves an unassailable 11 above the bottom three with two games remaining.
With serious doubts over the potential of 777 Partners’ takeover of the club and the slow development of the Blues’ new stadium, but the last month has given Toffees fans some renewed hope for the campaign ahead in 2024-25.

Three victories in a week over relegation rivals Nottingham Forest and Brentford, either side of a fever-pitch 2-0 beating of Liverpool, all came at Goodison Park and saw Dyche’s side score five goals and concede zero at the other end.
Cole’s assessment that Dyche and Everton have prevailed in the face of significant adversity this season is spot-on and, with just two games to go, Toffees fans will be in a carnival-like atmosphere at Goodison Park ahead of another spell of uncertainty this summer.
