Ashley Young to join talkSPORT pundit team for Euro 2024 with Everton contract set to expire

One Everton player certain to be on a plane to Germany for this summer's Euros is Ashley Young, after talkSPORT confirmed he will join their punditry team for the tournament.

The radio station confirmed on their X page [9 May] that Young is their latest addition for the Euros, bringing the anecdotes of his experiences with the England team between 2007 and 2018.

Young earned 39 senior caps for the Three Lions and scored seven goals, and has impressed this season as a regular in Sean Dyche's Everton side.

Turning 39 this summer, Young is said to be keen to continue his professional career in the Premier League, with the Toffees holding a 12-month extension option on his contract.

Alongside talkSPORT's new addition on their Euros punditry panel are Young's former Aston Villa teammates, Gabriel Agbonlahor and Darren Bent.

Stuart Pearce and Ally McCoist are also among the names on the radio station's roster.

Young has been edging himself into the media world, having recently appeared on Sky Sports, with the talkSPORT news now going further to show where his career path may turn when he does hang up his boots.

Only Thiago Silva has played in the Premier League as an older outfield player than Young this season, and with Silva confirmed to be leaving England, the Everton full-back could end up the league's oldest player if the club trigger the option on his deal.

It could be slightly more complicated than that, though, as Dyche may have to choose between he and fellow veteran, the long-serving Toffees legend Seamus Coleman, 35, to trim the wage bill at Goodison Park.

Young, however, will not be short of offers further down the pyramid should his chapter on Merseyside come to an end - or in punditry, it seems.
