Newcastle United have held talks with 777's Global Sporting Director Johannes Spors as 777 Partners' takeover bid at Everton continues to crumble, according to Sky Sports' Alan Myers.

On 9 May, the Myers reported via X that Crystal Palace's Sporting Director Dougie Freedman is also on the Magpies' shortlist as Dan Ashworth remains on gardening leave whilst his Manchester United move saga is resolved.

Everton continue to be left in limbo as the Premier League continue to block 777 from acquiring Farhad Moshiri's controlling stake at Goodison Park, with Moshiri aiming to conclude the deal by the end of this week.

In the meantime, 777 have been bankrolling the club with a series of loans which if withdrawn, could leave the Toffees staring down the barrel of administration.

Dyche and Everton do their job on the pitch

Dyche and his team have overcome the hurdle of points deductions for breaching PSR, and now with the takeover at a stand-off enforced by the Premier League, administration is being discussed as a possibility.

It will inevitably feel to some extent for the Everton players and management that all their endeavour is being erased as they go, winning four of their last seven and losing just one.

Jarrad Branthwaite may have to be sold if Everton remain in financial constraints

Any further financial consequences for the Blues could mean the sales of their prized assets, not least England's Jordan Pickford and Jarrad Branthwaite.

Everton will stand firm, but may ultimately have no choice depending on the eventual outcome of the 777 saga.

Whether it be at the Premier League, Moshiri or 777 themselves upon latest accusations, supporters will have one final chance this season to voice their wrath at Goodison when basement boys Sheffield United visit on Saturday.
