Everton told Dominic Calvert-Lewin will fetch ‘pretty penny’ amid new transfer speculation
Everton will “certainly” receive a “pretty penny” if they sell Dominic Calvert-Lewin this summer as they look to balance the books, according to Garth Crooks.
The England international has been linked with the Goodison Park exit door in recent days after Kevin Thelwell admitted that the Toffees could be forced to sell some players given their financial position.
While the likes of Jarrad Branthwaite and Amadou Onana have been linked with a summer switch, BBC Sport pundit Crooks believes Calvert-Lewin could be one of the more valuable stars in Sean Dyche’s squad.
Writing for BBC Sport on Monday (13 May) he said: “When you consider the Toffees have reached the 40-point mark having been deducted eight, and the anxiety that has come as a consequence, Sean Dyche and his men deserve congratulations for coming through the ordeal.
“However, the club’s woes are far from over. We are told players need to be sold to balance the books and Calvert-Lewin will certainly be one of their players who will fetch a pretty penny.”
Will Everton and Sean Dyche sell Dominic Calvert-Lewin during the summer transfer window?
Everton’s off-the-field issues have been no secret over the last couple of years and the Toffees will be desperate to do everything they can to avoid another point deduction next season, even if that means selling players.
Calvert-Lewin is entering the final year of his contract at Goodison Park and that means that this summer will represent the Blues final chance to earn a significant fee for his services, unless a new deal is agreed.

The England striker has admitted that he is yet to genuinely consider his future, but there will almost certainly be clubs considering a potential summer switch. If the right bid arrives, it’s hard to see it being thrown out by the Blues.
If Calvert-Lewin does leave, Dyche and Thelwell will simply have to sign a new number nine. Neither Beto of Youseff Chermiti have shown the levels required to fire the Toffees to safety so a new striker will be top of the shopping list.
