Simon Jordan sums up Sean Dyche work at Everton in one word
Sean Dyche has shown that he is “elite” in the managerial world with the job he has done amidst chaos at Everton this season, according to Simon Jordan.
Everton were hit with two Financial Fair Play penalties and saw eight points chalked off their overall Premier League tally this season, but Dyche was still able to steer the team comfortably away from the relegation zone.
Jordan argued Dyche deserves high praise for his efforts, and speaking on the Up Front podcast [16 May], compared his achievements to those of Pep Guardiola at Manchester City.
“Sean Dyche has done a remarkable job at Everton. He’s an elite manager operating in a different way to what we consider an elite manager to be”, Jordan said.
“I don’t think Everton can play the way Manchester City can play, but do I think Sean Dyche could adapt to Man City? Yes!”
He then asked: “Could you stick Guardiola at Everton? With his group of players, problems going on off the pitch, fans that are disenfranchised with the board, owners on the way out – get this team out of trouble. That takes an elite mentality.”
Everton owe Dyche after Premier League survival
Everton’s prospects of staying in the Premier League looked bleak coming into April, having failed to win for a joint club-record 13 games and slipped to 16th in the table.
However, the following month would see the club undergo a turnaround for the ages, sealing their survival and deservedly winning Dyche the Manager of the Month award.
That came about thanks to four wins from six, all four of which came at Goodison Park and saw the Toffees keep a clean sheet in each of those games.

With eight points deducted, financial problems aplenty and takeover talks slowly continuing in the background, Everton have experienced one of their toughest seasons both on and off the pitch.
But in Dyche, they have a manager who managed perfectly to capture a siege mentality within his squad, driving them away from the trapdoor on a solid foundation of defence and taking chances in big games.
His 13-game winless streak may count against him for large parts of this season, but it’s not hard to see why Jordan and others are calling for the Everton manager to receive higher recognition.
