Everton loanee Neal Maupay silences online critics as Brentford footage emerges
Everton loanee Neal Maupay has hit back at online critics as the striker nears the end of his successful season-long spell with Brentford.
Despite rediscovering his form since arriving at the Gtech Community Stadium and forming a relationship with Ivan Toney, fans from all clubs have continued to slam the Toffees loan player.
The 27-year-old is very active when it comes to social media and is often known for his ability to wind players up on the pitch, which sees him marked as a pantomime character each week.
Brentford uploaded footage of the striker in training on Friday (17 May), which Maupay retweeted via X with the caption: “‘Bro is just a Twitter merchant,'” with a shushing emoji.
Could Neal Maupay return to Everton next season?
Amidst the chaos at Goodison Park this season, strikers and goals have been an extremely worrying aspect of Everton’s football.
Despite being defensively solid in the Premier League, with only Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool conceding fewer goals, the Toffees narrowly escaped the relegation battle with a few matches remaining.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Abdoulaye Doucoure are currently tied as the club’s top scorers in the division, with the former scoring four in his last six while the latter has scored once since December.
Beto, who Everton signed from Udinese last summer, has struggled to adapt to English football, only notching five goals in 36 appearances in all competitions.
The final third of the pitch is certainly an area that Sean Dyche needs to look at during the summer transfer window, though Maupay could be a free option if they are unable to spend much.
Despite a similar record as Beto at Goodison Park for the Frenchman, he has shown exactly what he is capable of, having impressed since leaving the club on loan last summer.
