Everton told to now cash in on Dominic Calvert-Lewin ASAP amid Newcastle United transfer news
Dan Bardell has urged Everton to sell Dominic Calvert-Lewin this summer and cash in with Newcastle United interested in signing him.
Luke Edwards reported for The Telegraph (23 May) that the Magpies have been tracking the striker as a direct replacement for Callum Wilson.
The Toffees forward picked up some positive form in front of goal in the final months making him an important player under Sean Dyche.
Sky Sports and talkSPORT journalist Bardell believes this could prove to be the perfect opportunity to sell him on this summer.
Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, Bardell said: “Its a difficult one. He did get going a bit towards the end of the season but I would always look at his injury record and think, ‘do we capitalise while he’s had a bit of fitness and form?’. It’s probably not going to be forever that.
“Sometimes as a football club, you need to cash in on players at the right time and Everton could cash in on him.
“Beto hasn’t done anything this season so they’d be leaving themselves short. It isn’t a move that I can see but it could be a smart one for Everton.“
Everton could cash in on Dominic Calvert-Lewin
Calvert-Lewin has had his struggles in recent years through the years through various injury concerns which have hampered his game time.
His best season came four years ago when he scored 21 in 39 games across all competitions [FotMob] but he has failed to come close ever since.
In the following three seasons, he has totalled just 15 goals in a disappointing few years for the Englishman.
With that being said, he rediscovered some excellent form towards the end of the Premier League campaign as security was confirmed.
Across April and May, he scored four and assisted one in seven appearances which is a much more positive return.

With Newcastle showing an interest in his signature, cashing in while he is in a rich vein of form could be a good idea, especially with PSR concerns.
It would be frustrating to lose him but at 27 years old, it could be the best chance for the Toffees to get a good fee for him.
This could then be reinvested across the squad and potentially allow stars like Jarrad Branthwaite to stay from a financial perspective.
In other Everton news, a European club is open to selling their centre-back for £21million as Jarrad Branthwaite’s transfer development has emerged.
