Fabrizio Romano provides update on Barcelona interest in Everton ace Amadou Onana

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that FC Barcelona's interest in Everton midfielder Amadou Onana is no longer clear.

Speaking exclusively to Give Me Sport (5 June), the Itallian journalist provided an update on the La Liga giants' interest in Onana.

Romano said, "He's also a player that Barcelona appreciated when Xavi was the manager.

"Let's see what they will decide to do now with a new coach, like Hansi Flick."

Things change very quickly in football.

While Xavi was a fan of Onana and keen to bring him to Spain, Flick might not be.

Both managers have different ideas of how to set their team up, and Onana might not fit into Flick's plans.

As a result, that could be one less club Everton have to fend interest off from.

However, whether or not that is good news for the Toffees depends on various other factors.

Considering Everton's financial struggles, selling Onana could benefit the Merseyside-based club.

If fewer clubs are interested in the 22-year-old, that will bring the price down, which could be a problem.

It seems inevitable that some stars will need to be sold at Goodison Park this summer.

And Onana is probably one of the club's most valuable assets.

Therefore, if they do decide to cut ties with the Belgian, Everton will want as much interest as possible.
