Dom Smith believes that Gareth Southgate may feel like it’s too young an England squad as he has to make a decision over Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite.
The Evening Standard journalist reported on 6 June that Liverpool defender Jarell Quansah’s exit sees another centre-back cut from the Three Lions squad ahead of Euro 2024.
A decision is yet to be made on Branthwaite who made his international debut in the 3-0 win against Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Via Twitter, Smith wrote: “Gomez & Konsa seem likely to make Euro 2024 as fullbacks given ENG’s lack. Quansah exit would leave 1 more cut at CB. Dunk started v Bosnia&H but was poor v Lukaku (twice) this season and is 32. Branthwaite (21) represents the future but is Southgate scared of too much youth?”
