Liverpool player reacts as Tim Iroegbunam transfer announced at Everton

Liverpool defender Jarell Quansah has reacted after Everton officially announced the signing of Tim Iroegbunam on Saturday (22 June).

The Toffees confirmed that the 20-year-old midfielder has signed a three-year deal from Aston Villa for an undisclosed fee after three years with at the club.

Shortly before the announcement, Iroegbunam took to Instagram to wave goodbye to his teammates, coaches and fans ahead of the proposed move to Goodison Park.

Reacting to the social media post on Saturday, Quansah simply replied with a praise and heart emoji, having played at England youth levels together.

Of course, the moves have already been scrutinised for finding a “loophole” in the Premier League’s rules, but due to the transfer, the Toffees look to be gaining a very exciting prospect.

The midfielder, who has only made 20 senior appearances for the Villans since joining from West Brom in 2021, impressed on loan with QPR two seasons ago and was breaking into Unai Emery’s first-team set-up.

Despite this, Sean Dyche has already acquired a new midfield signing, which could be crucial heading into the next campaign if the predictions for the Toffees’ summer transfer window are correct.

Amadou Onana has been heavily linked with a move away from Goodison Park, which would leave just James Garner and Idrissa Gana Gueye as the only real options in the middle of the park.

Considering the latter’s injury issues last season, the addition of Iroegbunam could not have come at a better time as Onana attempts to impress at Euro 2024 in Germany this summer.

In other Everton news, a BBC journalist has shared whether Arsenal intend to pursue with their interest in Amadou Onana.
