Everton are standing strong on their Jarrad Branthwaite stance but must sell more players to stay within the PSR guidelines, "insiders" have told iNews.

The online newspaper reported [25 June] that the Toffees have no intention of letting the 21-year-old centre-back go this summer amid interest from Manchester United, while the player is also happy at Goodison Park.

It is understood that the club have been staying tight-lipped about their current PSR situation so as not to skew any enquiries about players in Sean Dyche's squad.

Everton must sell players to stay within PSR guidelines

The Toffees have already begun to use the PSR loophole that has been criticised heavily, selling and buying academy products with other clubs to produce pure profit and balance the books.

This may ensure that the club can keep Branthwaite for at least one more season, which, of course, has angered many fans interested in bringing the defender to Old Trafford.

With the sale of Lewis Dobbin to Aston Villa, Everton are already on their way to avoiding further punishments for the loss of money, and Amadou Onana could seal the deal this summer.

The Belgian is currently away on international duty at Euro 2024, and the club are said to be "desperate" for him to leave, as his departure will likely mean that Branthwaite can remain at Goodison Park [Alan Nixon].

The 21-year-old centre-back experienced a sensational breakout season alongside James Tarkowski, forming a brick wall with Jordan Pickford behind and only conceding more goals than Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool.

Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite
Keeping Jarrad Branthwaite would be a massive transfer boost for Everton.

The Red Devils are massively below the club's valuation of the star defender, so it does not seem like Branthwaite is going anywhere anytime soon, much to the joy of Blues fans.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin, on the other hand, could very much be on his way out of the club after six years, though his move to Newcastle United looks to have fallen through [Alan Myers].
