Everton handed financial boost as Ben Godfrey is spotted ahead of new transfer

Bryan King claims Ben Godfrey’s move from Everton to Atalanta is a good deal for everybody involved.

The ex-Goodison scout feels that the sale of the defender is important for the Toffees as they look to balance the books.

As per Dharmesh Sheth via X on Friday (28 June), footage has emerged of Godfrey arriving in Italy ahead of undergoing a medical with Atalanta.

And King – speaking exclusively to Goodison News – is delighted by the transfer update.

“When he first arrived at the club he looked as though he could have a big future with Everton,” King said.

“However, his performance levels dropped off and he fell out of favour at Goodison Park last season.

“Therefore, I think this is a good deal.

“It is a good fee and is a way for Godfrey to try and resurrect his career. It is also a good move for Everton as they look to get their financial troubles under control.”

Ben Godfrey set to sign for Atalanta from Everton

Godfrey could soon be confirmed as an Atalanta player, provided everything goes smoothly in his medical.

And for the Toffees, this is a fantastic bit of business.

As per Sheth via X (27 June), the total package for the 26-year-old is above £10million.

This represents a much-needed cash boost at Goodison Park ahead of Sunday 30 June.

As a result, Everton will hope that there are no complications and that a deal can be signed off immediately.
