Everton have attempted to get talks back on track with Newcastle United for Yankuba Minteh, according to the Chronicle Live.

The news outlet reported online on Friday (28 June) that the bid submitted by the Toffees for the striker earlier this week was not even close to what Newcastle United want.

The Magpies are working around the clock to sell players before Sunday 30 June.

An offer from Lyon remains on the table for Minteh, while the 20-year-old has already agreed personal terms with Everton via intermediaries.

Will Everton sign Yankuba Minteh from Newcastle United before Sunday?

This appears to be a complex deal for several reasons.

First and foremost, it looks as if Minteh already has his heart set on a move to Goodison Park. Therefore, while an offer from Lyon is on the table, it might be difficult for the Magpies to convince the youngster to move to France.

This will cause frustration at St James' Park as they look to get the player off their books this week.

If Everton were to increase their offer, there is no doubt that Newcastle would bite their hands off.

However, it appears as if the Toffees are currently reluctant to do that with financial concerns of their own to consider.

Both clubs will want this transfer to go through for different reasons. As a result, it appears as if they might need to search for a compromise.

While the outcome of this saga remains unclear, supporters will likely not have to wait much longer for an answer.
