Everton want to sign ‘explosive’ Watford star Yaser Asprilla amid ‘cheap’ transfer news

Everton have shown an interest in Watford star Yaser Asprilla this summer and could lodge a bid, according to the Sunday People.

On page 58 of their edition published on 7 July, it is reported that Asprilla is on the radar of the Toffees having enjoyed a promising Copa America campaign with Colombia.

Asprilla’s nation have just reached the semi-finals of the competition following a 5-0 rout of Panama in the last eight, and will next face Uruguay.

Everton have held a long-standing interest in the 20-year-old having attempted to sign him late in the January transfer window, though now it is thought to be an easier task with the player having just a year left on his deal at Vicarage Road and potentially available “cheap” to Sean Dyche’s side.

Everton return to Asprilla chase

Dyche believes Asprilla can improve Everton, and the Colombian international has time on his side.

The right-winger, who can also operate in an attacking midfield berth, has been described in the press as “explosive” and “skilful”, able to make things happen out of nothing.

The club are looking to strengthen plenty in this area of the pitch, having secured Jack Harrison for another year and put their name in the hat for in-demand Hull City forward Jaden Philogene.

Whilst Asprilla has been left on the bench for three of Colombia’s Copa America matches so far, he has been deployed as an unpredictable and dangerous impact player, earning a combined 65 minutes in wins over Bolivia and Costa Rica.

The youngster scored six goals and claimed seven assists for Watford in the Championship last season, starting 28 of his 44 league outings.
