Bryan King believes Everton defender Michael Keane should be sold after a transfer update at Goodison Park.

The ex-Goodison scout claims the defender has been a "major disappointment" throughout his time with the Toffees.

As reported by Alan Nixon via his Patreon (7 July), Keane could be allowed to leave the club if Everton sign Jake O'Brien from Olympique Lyonnais.

Several clubs have been alerted to the 31-year-old's potential availability.

And King - speaking exclusively to Goodison News - is keen to see the centre-back moved on.

"It is time for Keane to leave Goodison Park, without doubt," King said.

"Although he has worked with Sean Dyche in the past at Burnley, I think he has been very disappointing at Everton.

"He isn't playing regularly and I think the best option for him would be to move to a team where he will play regular first-team football.

"Keane isn't a bad defender, but I think if Everton are looking to move forward they need to get rid of him.

"He cost a lot of money when they signed him and I think he has been a major disappointment."

Will Everton defender Michael Keane quit Goodison Park this summer?

Selling Keane this summer makes plenty of sense for Everton.

The defender made just nine appearances under Dyche last season and has clearly fallen out of favour at Goodison Park.

In addition, he has just one year remaining on his deal with the Toffees, with his contract set to expire on 30 June 2025.

Therefore, now might be the final realistic opportunity for the club to recoup a fee for the defender.
