Everton new transfer claim emerges after Jake O’Brien development
Everton are set to make more new signings after Lyon centre-back Jake O’Brien, according to Alan Myers.
The Sky Sports news editor claimed on 27 July that the Toffees were closing in on the 23-year-old and that it wasn’t the last deal of the summer for them.
This comes after Fabrizio Romano reported that a deal in principle had been agreed with the Republic of Ireland international.
Myers wrote: “Everton closing in on Jake O’Brien deal.
“It won’t be the last.”
Everton must bring in another right-back after Jake O’Brien’s signing
The Toffees were to bring in a defender next [Alan Myers] and it seems like that was spot on with O’Brien now close to signing.
O’Brien is a quality signing for the Toffees due to his impressive performances in Ligue 1, where he showcased his defensive skills and ability to be a threat in both boxes.
His height and aerial prowess make him a valuable asset in set-piece situations.
The Toffees also urgently need a new right-back as Seamus Coleman, aged 34 and Ashley Young, aged 38, are in the twilight of their careers.
Additionally, Nathan Patterson, the only other recognised right-back, has struggled with injuries, leaving the team vulnerable in that position.
A new right-back would provide much-needed depth and competition, ensuring the team’s defensive stability and hopefully, it’s prioritised by the club.
In other Everton news, Alan Myers has issued a claim on Kevin Malone as a fresh twist has emerged with regards to the club’s takeover.
