Everton to sign new left-back after Jake O’Brien as transfer update emerges

Sky Sports news editor Alan Myers states that Everton could now sign a left-back or midfielder after the transfer of Jake O’Brien.

The Toffees have agreed on a £22million deal to secure the services of the 23-year-old centre-back [Sky Sports] but will not be stopping there.

Four new players have already been signed thus far and Sean Dyche is expected to see more new faces arrive before the window shuts.

Myers wrote on X on 27 July: “My guess would be LB or Midfield.”

Everton need to provide solid cover to Vitalii Mykolenko at left-back

The Toffees’ acquisition of O’Brien for £22million is a significant addition to their defence.

However, the club’s transfer activity should not stop there as they should aim to finish in the top half next season.

Vitalii Mykolenko, the first-choice left-back, needs a solid cover to ensure the team’s defensive stability.

Signing a new left-back would provide competition and depth in this crucial position and would give Dyche the chance to rest the Ukrainian as well.

Additionally, the Toffees could also benefit from signing a new midfielder as the departure of Amadou Onana to Aston Villa has left a void in the midfield that needs to be filled.

A new midfielder would not only replace Onana’s presence but also add quality and depth to the team’s midfield options.

The next few weeks are set to be incredibly busy and hopefully, the Toffees bring in the right players through the door.

In other Everton news, Alan Myers has issued an update as the Toffees want to sign a player Pep Guardiola called ‘Exceptional’.
