Farhad Moshiri shouting into the void with unrealistic Everton takeover deadline
Kieran Maguire thinks an eight-week deadline for Everton to complete a takeover deal is “unrealistic”.
The Toffees find themselves back at square one in their search for a buyer after Dan Friedkin pulled out of a deal to purchase Farhad Moshiri’s stake in the club.
Finance expert Maguire is concerned by potential cash-flow challenges later into the year but cannot foresee how a deadline to complete a deal within the next couple of months is attainable.
“I think getting a deal over the line in eight weeks is unrealistic given that we don’t even have a preferred bidder at the moment,” Maguire said to TBR Football.
“I do agree that Everton will have some cash flow challenges as we get into late autumn. That is where my concerns lie.
“To date, we have had both 777 and the Friedkin Group come in as preferred bidders and be so confident of getting a deal over the line that they have lent the club substantial sums of money.
“I think any potential owner will not necessarily be as keen to go down that route having seen the last two failures as a cautionary tale.
“Moshiri’s second deadline is just sort of him shouting into the void. He doesn’t have anything to back that up.”
Everton need to find a new owner as soon as possible
Moshiri has been desperate to find a buyer for his 94 per cent stake in the club for the best part of two years but deals involving 777 Partners and the Friedkin Group have both now collapsed.
The murmurings are that the club are not in immediate danger but Maguire is not alone in saying that it is later in the year where there will be fears over cashflow at Goodison Park.
Thus far, it has not prevented Everton from doing business in the transfer window with the likes of Jake O’Brien and former Sheffield United ace Iliman Ndiaye arriving to strength Sean Dyche’s squad ahead of the new Premier League campaign.

But news on a potential bidders has gone a little quiet and supporters will want to get some sort of update in the near future because funding is going to be needed in the very near future.
Let’s hope for a swift resolution.
