Steve Parish shares John Textor update after new Everton takeover developments

Crystal Palace chairman and co-owner Steve Parish has spoken out about John Textor’s takeover interest at Everton.

Textor has already confirmed his eagerness to become the new owner of the Toffees, with a source revealing to Goodison News (9 August) that the billionaire had retained an interest, with an exclusivity agreement now signed [David Ornstein].

However, he would need to sell his 45 per cent stake at Selhurst Park first, which Parish has spoken about before Textor’s potential deal with Farhad Moshiri.

Quoted by BBC Sport on Thursday (15 August), he said: “John has a multi-club setup and because he has a minority position in Crystal Palace it makes it more difficult for him to do the things that he wants to do.

“Personally, I think John is making as good a job as anyone in that multi-club situation, he has great assets. He wants a club that plugs into that where he controls everything that happens. We don’t think that is right for us as a club right now.

“We do collaborate with his clubs where we can. He wants to go and do something else, we’re helping him do that. John has supported the club financially as we all have. He has put his part in and we have put our part in and we’re all aligned on the strategy.

“We’re very happy to help John fulfil his ambitions. I was chatting to him on email while he was flying to Brazil last night. We will try to find the right people to come in his place.

“Josh, David and I between us have 55 per cent with some friends. It’s a very stable situation for the club and very amicable. We will work to wish John well and do our best to get him in the position we want him to be in.”

John Textor to finally complete takeover deal at Everton?

This is not the first time fans have seen Textor involved with the takeover situation at Goodison Park, having thrown his hat in the ring before Dan Friedkin’s collapsed attempt earlier this summer.

Either way, with fans becoming more and more concerned about the club’s financial situation and the implications of further PSR breaches, they will just want to know what the future holds for the Toffees.

While Sean Dyche and Kevin Thelwell’s transfer plans have continued throughout the summer without a hitch, there continues to be a shadow hanging over the club in terms of a possible takeover deal.

With Parish now speaking out about the situation, Textor looks to be edging closer to being the person to finally address the ongoing concerns and see Moshiri leave his post at Goodison Park for good.

Everything appears to rest on these shares at Palace, so let’s hope that can be resolved very soon.
