John Textor retains an interest in buying Everton Football Club from Farhad Moshiri, Goodison News has learned.

A source close to the takeover saga on Merseyside has told Goodison News that while there's some truth in the reports that Textor, 58, is back in the frame to buy the Blues, elements of it are premature.

The Guardian reported on Friday (9 August) that the American billionaire, who also owns a shareholding at Crystal Palace, has made a bid to become the new majority owner of Everton.

Moshiri has already seen two takeover deals fall through with 777 Partners and The Friedkin Group and Goodison News understands that while Textor is still in the running to become the next owner, the Merseyside club still has a number of other prospective bidders.

Dan Friedkin, who owns Roma, backed out of his deal to buy Everton in July due to loans 777 made to Moshiri during their doomed takeover attempt. Roma are coincidentally playing against Sean Dyche's side in a pre-season friendly this weekend at Goodison Park.

Everton kick off their 2024/25 Premier League campaign with a home clash versus Brighton next Saturday (17 August).
