Everton set for new transfer talks as Brazilian striker to seal Goodison move
Everton and Atletico-MG can begin negotiations over the transfer of striker Alisson next week, according to Goal Brazil.
The news outlet reported that the £51.2million release clause in the 18-year-old’s contract is to protect his value in case foreign clubs come lurking.
The Toffees are expected to table an official bid for the Brazilian in the next few days as they aim to sign him ahead of the 30 August transfer deadline.
Everton must not take such a huge gamble on Alisson
The Toffees are not in a position to take gambles on promising talents that have not been proven in Europe’s top five leagues.
Even if he was touted to be the next big thing, he still is extremely raw and unless he’s coming for six figures, this deal does not make sense.
It remains to be seen how much the opening bid from the Toffees is expected to be worth as Sean Dyche would not want the club prioritising strengthening the academy while the first team still looks frail.
The game against Brighton showed that there’s plenty of work that needs to be done on the training pitch, but also proved that new signings are needed as soon as possible.
Amadou Onana has not properly been replaced and while Tim Iroegbunam showcased his quality, Idrissa Gueye cannot be a first-team regular this season.

Hopefully, work’s going on behind the scenes in order to bring new players to Goodison Park before the transfer deadline.
In other Everton news, the Toffees are now on red alert as a Goodison-linked striker has been left out of the matchday squad over the weekend.
