Dele Alli still does not have a contract making him ineligible to play for Everton yet, according to Alan Myers.

The Sky Sports editor admits that he's not aware of the 28-year-old being handed a new deal at Goodison Park.

Alli, who's made 37 caps for England, saw his contract at the Toffees run out on 30 June and while he's trained with the club, he still remains out of contract.

Via X, Myers wrote: "Not as far as I’m aware."

Everton should offer a low-wage contract to Dele Alli until he proves himself

The Toffees should consider offering Alli a low-wage contract due to his recent history of injuries and lack of form, which makes him a high-risk investment.

Given the club's precarious financial position, this approach minimises the risk associated with his rehabilitation and potential return to competitive football.

A low-wage deal would allow the 28-year-old to prove his fitness and form without committing to a high salary upfront.

If the Englishman demonstrates he can regain his previous level of performance, both on and off the pitch, Everton could then justify a salary hike.

This strategy not only aligns with the club's need for financial prudence but also provides Alli with an opportunity to earn back his reputation and value in the sport, potentially benefiting both parties if successful.

It remains to be seen whether or not Sean Dyche is convinced by what he's seeing from the 28-year-old behind the scenes.
