Armando Broja to Everton talked up after Chelsea transfer twist

Everton remain interested in Armando Broja and the Chelsea striker is "one to watch" with his move to Ipswich Town in jeopardy, according to Harry Watkinson.

The TEAMtalk journalist posted on X (24 August) to report that Broja making a late switch to Goodison Park is worth keeping an eye on in the coming days, should his proposed loan to Ipswich collapse.

Guardian journalist Jacob Steinberg earlier reported [24 August] that paperwork issues between Ipswich and the Albanian have put the deal at risk, with the Toffees name-checked as a side who remain interested.

With Ipswich considering alternative forwards should they not be able to re-rail an agreement with Broja, the Blues reportedly be waiting in the wings for a second chance as the 30 August transfer deadline looms large.

Everton need to act fast on transfer front and avoid striker crisis

As the 2024 summer transfer window enters its final few days, there are still a plethora of questions to be answered about the makeup of the squad Sean Dyche has at his disposal at Goodison Park.

Although covering gaps caused by injuries is currently the most pressing issue for Dyche – with just 14 senior players fit and available at the moment – doubts linger over the identity of his first-choice striker.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been Dyche's go-to pick up front during the 53-year-old's time in charge, but his precarious contract situation – well into his final 12 months – raises the question of a last-gasp sale [Connor O'Neill, 23 August].

It's no secret that the Toffees are strapped for cash, and if an offer of any decent size comes in for Calvert-Lewin with the deadline nearing, they would be wise to accept it with no new contract agreed [TEAMtalk, 8 August].

Therefore, with Broja potentially back on the market – and available for a loan which wouldn't require a huge financial outlay – the Blues cannot pass up the opportunity to address this most pressing question.
