Dele Alli won’t stand a chance at Everton if he hasn’t done what expert suggests
Bryan King claims Dele Alli has a lot of work to do to prove that he can become a key player for Everton at Goodison Park.
The ex-Goodison scout has insisted that the 28-year-old doesn’t stand a chance unless he has been working hard behind the scenes.
As per The Athletic (23 August), Alli is likely to earn a one-year deal with Everton if he can prove his fitness over the coming weeks.
And King – speaking exclusively to Goodison News – believes there is a lot of hard work ahead for the ex-Tottenham and England international.
“He could certainly be an asset for the team,” King said.
“However, he has lost over a year of his football career. He would need to come back extremely hungry to get into the team.
“He’s got to show that he’s willing to fight and willing to be an important part of the squad with his performances. He has a lot to do to prove to Sean Dyche and Everton that he can be a key player for them.
“This isn’t the Championship or Under-21s he is coming back to. This is the Premier League and you’ve got to be up and running. Hopefully, he has been working hard behind the scenes otherwise he doesn’t stand a chance.”
Everton to offer Dele Alli a brand-new contract at Goodison Park?
By all accounts, Alli is still essentially an Everton player. He has been training and continuing his rehabilitation with the club as he looks to make a return from his long-term injury.
However, his contract with the Toffees expired this summer. That leaves Everton in a difficult situation as to whether or not they take a gamble on the player.
If Alli can rediscover the form which made him one of England’s hottest young prospects, he could single handledly save Everton from any potential relegation fight.

However, it has been years since he has reached those levels, and the Toffees must therefore decide if they think he is capable of hitting those heights once again.
If they do, then a contract offer is a no-brainer.
