Sky Sports share incredible Everton scenes in middle of 3-2 loss v Bournemouth
Michael Dawson could not believe his eyes as Everton threw away a two-goal lead to lose 3-2 against Bournemouth on Saturday (31 August).
Goals from Michael Keane and Dominic Calvert-Lewin gave the Toffees a comfortable lead over the Cherries at Goodison Park, but a comeback from the away side saw Sean Dyche’s side walk away with nothing.
Antione Semenyo got one back with three minutes of normal time left to play before Lewis Cook and Luis Sinisterra scored in added time to steal all three points on Merseyside.
Speaking live via Sky Sports on Saturday (31 August, 4:55pm), Dawson said: “Honestly, I need to start digging because this game was done and dusted. Everton were home and dry. Now, 3-2 Bournemouth.
“It’s Sinisterra down the left-hand side, a great cross to the back post and all he has to do is get a good, solid contact on it. He heads it straight into the back of the net.
“What a turnaround – I cannot believe it. Incredible scenes. Is it game over? It has to be.”
Everton throw away victory as Bournemouth complete comeback
If Dyche wasn’t already feeling the heat of a possible sacking at Goodison Park, he surely will be now after his side threw away the chance to put their first points on the Premier League board.
Having opened the campaign with consecutive defeats to Brighton and Tottenham, the Toffees came into the clash rock bottom of the table, scoring none and conceding seven.
Despite scoring their first two goals of the new season, another three goals conceded, especially in such a fashion, will leave several parties fuming at the Merseyside club.
The fans made their feelings known, with most fans leaving the ground before the final whistle blew, and Dyche will be feeling hot under the collar after their capitulation on Saturday.
There is no excuse for the Toffees’ defeat to Bournemouth. It could be his final act as manager at Goodison Park.
