John Textor camp speaks out on Everton takeover after Dan Friedkin twist
John Textor is “quite close” to an agreement for the takeover of Everton, his camp has said.
Bloomberg journalist David Hellier shared via BBC Radio Merseyside on 17 September that after Dan Friedkin’s reignited interest, things have started to move quickly.
Hellier reported on 16 September that The Friedkin Group had reignited their interest in the Toffees, with preliminary talks already underway [Bloomberg, 16 September]
“His [Textor] camp say that they’re getting quite close to an agreement, I think that’s spurred the Friedkin group back into action,” he said.
Everton need to sort their takeover saga as soon as possible
As we all know, Everton’s takeover saga has been hanging over the club’s head for as long as many can remember.
The last few seasons have been fairly rough for the Toffees with the club going through multiple exclusivity deals for nothing to end up happening.
Farhad Moshiri has been in talks with many suitors and it finally feels as if there could be light at the end of the tunnel.
Textor has picked up the pace in terms of selling his Crystal Palace shares [Daily Mail, 16 September] to try and get a deal over the line quickly and is said to be the frontrunner for the takeover [Alan Myers].

Friedkin had the opportunity to complete a deal for the club during the summer transfer window but chose to pull out and left Everton in the lurch, with something now changing in the background.
There’s still time for things to change but for now, Textor looks to be the man to take the club from Moshiri’s reign.
