John Textor update emerges at Everton after Dan Friedkin takeover news
John Textor doesn’t have exclusivity to buy Everton despite being in talks with Farhad Moshiri, according to Giulia Bould.
The BBC journalist reported via X on 16 September that as Textor isn’t in a position to buy the Toffees, he doesn’t have exclusive business rights to the sale.
The American still holds shares in Crystal Palace so until he manages to offload those, he can’t make his move to take over the club.
It comes after it was reported on 16 September that Dan Friedkin is once again interested in a takeover of Everton, as talks with stakeholders start again [Bloomberg].
Bould wrote: “Interesting that one as my understanding is Textor doesn’t have exclusivity in business terms as he isn’t in a position to buy.”
Everton takeover takes yet another new twist
For what seems like forever, Moshiri has been on the lookout for a buyer to take his stake off his hands.
Since the club was put up for sale, there have been multiple failed bids and now that a deal finally looks to be getting somewhere, yet another twist has been thrown into the works.
Before Textor’s interest, Friedkin was interested in buying Everton but even after entering a period of exclusivity, a deal never came to fruition.
The American already owns Roma and his potential takeover excited a lot of the Toffees’ fans at the time after what he achieved with the Italian club.
Now that Textor seems to be edging closer to making his final move as he looks to sell his Palace shares quickly [Daily Mail], Friedkin has thrown his hat into the ring again.
Although at one point or another, the saga will come to an end, the sooner it happens, the better it’ll be for all those involved which is why the club needs to find a new owner as soon as possible.
In other Everton news, a finance expert has issued a “criminal” verdict as the Toffees learn the result of a multi-million controversy.
