Everton manager update emerges amid new Gareth Southgate twist ahead of takeover
Everton are unlikely to be able to appoint Gareth Southgate should they decide to part ways with Sean Dyche.
GiveMeSport reported on 23 September that Dan Friedkin had identified the former Three Lions head coach as an option once the takeover was completed.

Gareth Southgate rules himself out of the running for the Everton job
However, even if the Friedkins decide to sack the Englishman, Southgate has ruled himself out of the running.
He has stated that he does not want to take up a role in 2025, which means that he’s not going to be the next Toffees manager post the takeover competition which is expected to be in December.
Via the BBC’s Simon Stone, he said: “I won’t coach in the next year, for sure. I’m certain of that. I need to give myself time to make good decisions. When you come out of a really big role you need to give your body time, you need to give your mind time.”
Gareth Southgate will not be popular among the Everton fans
Southgate, known for his cautious tactics with England, might not bring the dynamic, expansive football that Everton fans crave, especially after Dyche’s pragmatic approach.
The Toffees need a manager who can revitalise the squad with an attacking philosophy, encouraging fluid, entertaining football that could captivate the fanbase and potentially attract new talent.
Moreover, Southgate’s experience primarily lies with the national team, which differs significantly from club management where squad building and daily training ground management are paramount.
Instead, the new owners should look towards managers with a proven track record in domestic leagues who can help build a team for the new era at Bramley-Moore Dock.
