Sean Dyche on short leash as new sack update emerges at Everton

Sean Dyche is on a “very short leash” at Everton following a mixed start to the 2024/25 campaign, according to Graeme Bailey.

The Toffees are sitting just two points above the Premier League relegation zone, with just one win in their first seven matches, but the squad finally look to be on the up after a struggling start.

Dyche came under heavy fire after four consecutive losses to Brighton, Tottenham, Bournemouth and Aston Villa, and the manner of those defeats, but five points from the last three games has eased tension.

However, speaking via Everton News on Thursday (10 October), Bailey said: “I still think they’re ready to move on from him. There’s basically no way that he’s going to be in charge going into the new stadium.

“Dyche is on a very short leash.”

Everton to consider Sean Dyche sack soon?

The Toffees look to finally be grabbing a foothold in the Premier League, having beaten Crystal Palace and drawn against Leicester City and Newcastle United in recent weeks.

With a two-week break due to the international window, Dyche will be praying that his players return to Goodison Park unharmed as they prepare for key matches down the bottom of the table.

Of course, with Dan Friedkin’s takeover in the works, one which could be completed by January [iNews, 9 October], there is always the risk of a new management team under new ownership at the club.

Dyche has worked wonders at times in his 20 months on Merseyside, helping the Toffees to escape relegation last term despite two points deductions, but the past is quickly forgotten in football.

The sport is majorly based on results, and even if performances have been positive, that does not always secure a manager’s job. It should come as no surprise to see the 53-year-old right on the edge.
