Seamus Coleman spotted in Everton training amid injury update as images emerge at Finch Farm

Seamus Coleman has been pictured in training as the Everton defender nears a return from injury.

The 36-year-old has been sidelined since the last international break, having gone off in the Republic of Ireland’s 2-0 loss to England in September, suffering from a new ankle injury.

Now, ahead of the Toffees’ Premier League clash with Ipswich Town on Saturday 19 October, Coleman was spotted jogging with a member of the fitness staff during a training session at Finch Farm [Liverpool Echo].

Speaking ahead of the Newcastle United clash, Sean Dyche said his absence would be “a bit longer”, adding they hope he gets closer during this break.

Seamus Coleman nears injury return ahead of Everton v Ipswich Town

Dyche has had his hands tied in defence so far this season, with Jarrad Branthwaite’s absence seeing Michael Keane returned to the starting XI, and Coleman’s injury woes meaning more game time for Ashley Young.

The 39-year-old already has five league starts to his name, most recently moving across to the left flank as James Garner was trusted to deputise at right-back.

However, in alignment with the Toffees’ change in form, grabbing five points from their last three games, everything looks to be falling into place for Dyche, even Nathan Patterson’s long-awaited return from injury.

Of course, with the Merseyside club separated from the dropzone by just two points and two places, they are by no means safe from relegation battle so any injury returns will be welcomed with open arms.

Dyche’s team certainly have a lot of positives to build upon once the international window closes, having taken a point from seventh-place Newcastle United last time out.

Coleman’s leadership is, obviously, key to the Toffees, and while he has likely helped lead in the changing room, it is impossible to replace his voice on the pitch while his teammates are under pressure.

It is difficult to see the veteran defender brought back into the starting XI to face Ipswich next weekend, but it will still come as a huge boost to the manager.
