Everton to abandon ‘Basic transfer strategy’ amid Kevin Zenon development
Dan Bardell believes Everton moving for Kevin Zenon could prove to be positive after a “basic” transfer strategy in recent years.
The Toffees have sent scouts to watch the Boca Juniors winger in the past six months amid interest from a host of other European teams [TBR Football].
The South American outfit are prepared to lose the 23-year-old who is understood to have a £13million release clause in his contract.
Sky Sports and talkSPORT journalist Bardell thinks this could see a change to the transfer strategy at Goodison Park after being under financial restrictions in recent years.
Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, Bardell said: “It would depend on the fee involved, obviously.
“You’ve got to have different strands going on with the transfer strategy and in fairness, Everton’s strategy in recent years has felt quite basic.
“Zennon could prove to be a signing for the future and as a club, you do have to make those kind of signings.
“You’ve got to trust your scouting department as plenty of clubs are utilising the South American market and going that way.
“In some ways, it may feel really positive to Everton because the restrictions have made their transfers quite basic in the last few years.“
Everton looking at Kevin Zenon from Boca Juniors
Sean Dyche’s side have been looking up in recent weeks with four games unbeaten including two wins against Crystal Palace and Ipswich Town.
Looking ahead to the January window, there is a chance to add to the squad at Goodison to add quality to the side to build on this positive form.
Zenon could prove to be a perfect winter signing to allow the versatile winger to settle in on Merseyside before unleashing him properly in the Premier League last season.

For £13m it would be a relatively risk free move for a Toffees side who have rarely made this sort of shrewd transfer in years gone by.
