Manchester United are still interested in Jarrad Branthwaite and the appointment of Ruben Amorim will not change their stance regarding the Everton defender, according to Graeme Bailey.

The Red Devils confirmed the arrival of the Portuguese in their dugout [BBC, 1 November] after the dismissal of Erik ten Hag.

Despite the change in management, Bailey has shared [1 November] that United have no plans of dropping Branthwaite as one of their targets.

"Man United are still interested, with Amorim going in it won't change their transfer strategy in the slightest," he told Everton News (1 November).

Everton can't sell Jarrad Branthwaite to Manchester United

Branthwaite is one of the biggest prospects at the Toffees right now, with the team struggling for quality in most areas of the pitch.

The Englishman is one of the club's most significant assets; selling him at a time when he's needed the most doesn't seem prudent.

After his loan spell at PSV Eindhoven, the 22-year-old proved his abilities in the Premier League last season, featuring 35 times for the Blues.

Sean Dyche has been unable to call upon the defender regularly in the current campaign due to his persistent fitness issues.

James Tarkowski and Michael Keane have been the manager's preferred pairing in the backline, but Branthwaite is arguably a level above the two.

If Everton want to be looking for a brighter future under prospective new owners the Friedkin Group, then keeping hold of someone like the 22-year-old is absolutely essential.

While it will be difficult for the Toffees to keep the talented centre-back when top teams come knocking, for now, the club need to make him one of the faces of the project as they are set to move into the new stadium.

The Blues are set to face Southampton next away from home on 2 November, and it remains to be seen whether Branthwaite will play a part.
