Thelwell replacement already found at Everton, ‘game-changer’ is now available
Kevin Thelwell’s final chance to stamp his mark on the Everton squad could come during the January transfer market.
The club’s director of football was given a lot of praise during the summer as Sean Dyche added multiple exciting players to the squad, including Iliman Ndiaye, Orel Mangala and Jake O’Brien.
However, as some of those new additions have stalled on the pitch, positive results have also been few and far between at Goodison Park, and now fans are expecting new additions.
With Dan Friedkin nearing the completion of his takeover from Farhad Moshiri [Alan Myers], a new era looks set to begin on Merseyside, which could mean the new owners wiping the slate clean.
And with Thelwell out of contract at the end of the 2024/25 campaign [iNews], they will need to find a new director of football to take control once the summer transfer window rolls around.
Everton to replace Kevin Thelwell with Dan Ashworth?
According to TEAMtalk, the Toffees are already working to find a replacement, with former Tottenham figure Fabio Paratici emerging while Dan Ashworth has been mooted for the switch [Ian Croll].
Ashworth was recently relieved of his duties at Manchester United and the Friedkins must take advantage of this as one of their first actions in charge on Merseyside.
Being lauded as a “game-changer” by Alex Thorne who worked with him at the FA, and even being given the stamp of approval from Thelwell [The Athletic], he would be the perfect replacement.

His experiences with Brighton and Newcastle United should certainly be enough for the Friedkins to pull the trigger and lure him to the blue side of Liverpool once they’re in charge.
The club should certainly not be put off by the end of his tenure at Old Trafford, only view it as a positive for the future of Everton.
