UEFA approval will be needed as the Premier League pencil in a new date for Everton against Liverpool following its postponement, according to The Mirror.

The newspaper has reported on its website that the last Merseyside derby at Goodison Park is set to take place on Tuesday 11 February.

Fans were left frustrated as Storm Darragh saw the original clash postponed on 7 December, with some even travelling from Australia to be let down.

Everton and Liverpool are now said to be in talks with the Premier League, Police and broadcasters.

Why is UEFA approval needed for Everton?

UEFA will need to give the green light as that gameday will be a Champions League date.

With Liverpool on the verge of automatic qualification though, it should free up space in the calendar, meaning no issues are expected for the Everton game.

Sean Dyche will have welcomed some rest for his squad last weekend, especially with the likes of Arsenal, Manchester City and Chelsea to come within days.

The FA Cup fourth round is scheduled for the days before the possible new date against Liverpool, with a trip to Crystal Palace to follow on 15 February.

The Toffees dealing with the UEFA and Champions League dates appeared to be miles away, but it has soon become a possible obstacle, regardless of why.

With Farhad Moshiri heading out soon for The Friedkin Group to complete its takeover, hopefully, the new era at Bramley Moore Dock can see that issue appearing more consistently in the future.
