Everton are taking an interest in signing Watford star Giorgi Chakvetadze as the club eye attacking reinforcements in January, according to Football League World.

FLW have reported (17 December) that sources have indicated Everton are one of several Premier League clubs, with Leicester and Wolves named as interested parties, keen on a deal to sign Chakvetadze ahead of what looks set to be an important January transfer window.

The 25-year-old can operate in a number of attacking positions and his arrival could allow the club the opportunity to terminate the loan of Jack Harrison who has failed to make an impact.

The Toffees may face a challenge in winning his signature with it revealed that they would be required to pay a "hefty fee" given he is under contract until 2029.

Giorgi Chakvetadze would be a great signing for Everton

Watford have had a solid season so far under ex-Toffees midfielder Tom Cleverley and Chakvetadze has played a crucial role in that with it coming as no surprise to see Premier League clubs taking an interest in him.

The Georgian has registered five goal contributions for The Hornets in the Championship while demonstrating a high level of ability across the season.

His ability to drive forward with the ball has been key in transition for Watford and should Everton complete a deal, it would play a big role in addressing the creativity concerns that have haunted the Merseysiders all campaign.

Everton could be very active in the upcoming transfer window with Victor Lindelof another player linked with a move to Goodison Park (CaughtOffside).

The window could play a crucial role in deciding how the remainder of the season pans out for The Toffees and potentially prevent them from being dragged into another relegation dogfight.
