Marc Watts has been spotted arriving at Goodison Park ahead of Everton taking on Chelsea at Goodison Park, according to the Liverpool Echo.

The Friedkin Group officially completed their takeover of the Toffees this week but Dan Friedkin is not expected to be present as the Toffees welcome Enzo Maresca's high-flyers.

However, new executive chairman Watts was pictured at the stadium on the Echo's live blog (22 December) as a representative of the new owners.

They posted under the picture: "I've been told by a senior club official today that Dan Friedkin himself was not expected to be in attendance at today's game but Everton's new executive chairman Marc Watts, who received the keys to the new stadium this week, has arrived on behalf of the Friedkin Group."

Everton can dream big again under the Friedkin Group

There is a real air of anticipation around Everton this week after finally their long-awaited takeover by the Friedkin Group was completed.

After a few years of turmoil on the blue half of Merseyside, Toffees supporters can now finally begin to dream of brighter times on the horizon.

The new owners could hardly have acquired the keys at a more exciting time given the commercial opportunities that will arise from the move to the new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock next season.

Of course, the immediate concern is on ensuring Everton maintain their Premier League status and Sean Dyche will be desperate to make a good impression in front of his new bosses today.

Chelsea represent an extremely tough challenge given they could, at least momentarily, go top of the Premier League with victory on Merseyside.

But with a buoyant mood among the fanbase you just never know, Watts might be treated to a win live in the flesh.
